Not a model story ONE of our favourite girls, the supermodel Madhu Sapre is said to be fighting a personal battle. Sapre and her husband of almost two decades, Gian Maria Emendatori, have apparently split and are said to be filing for divorce. Sapre, who lost the Miss Universe crown by a whisker in 1992 thanks to her propensity for sports over political affairs, had been a leading model in India for long before that. She married Emendatori, an ice-cream manufacturing magnate, in 2001, and moved to Riccione, a small town on the east coast of Italy. They have a daughter named Indira, and Sapre often brings her to India on their annual visits (the two were here last month and holidayed in Goa with leading model Ujjwala Raut and her daughter). Friends of Sapre say Emendatori and she have been having problems for over two years now, and Mehr Rampal, Sapre’s great friend, has been consoling her. In a social media post on April 15, Sapre asked, “Where has the love gone?” to which several of her model friends urged her to stay strong.
Madonna and the Met MONDAY night’s Met Gala, an eyeball-grabbing fashion fund-raiser for New York’s Metropolitan Museum’s costume department, had a sprinkling of Indian in it too. We aren’t talking of Priyanka Chopra who attended the party, but socialite Natasha Poonawalla. The global party girl and philanthropist Poonawalla made it to the fund-raiser and watched Madonna performing ‘Like a Prayer’ live and from up close. She calls it the highlight of the gala for her. Delhibased jeweller Hanut Singh also had a moment of pride when the legendary shoe-smith Christian Louboutin wore a beaded prayer rosary, made by Singh, to the Gala.
In tune WHILE he is being unusually tightlipped about his big news, we hear that crooner Zarir Warden, a favourite frontman of SoBo bars and private soirees, has gotten hitched. Warden, who performs with his band ONEmpire, has been dating Pareesha Ruia for a couple of years now and the two married rather quietly last week. A celebration with family and close friends is being planned in Kerala this week. We wish the couple happy times.
No time to marry ACTOR Varun Dhawan is all set to break a million hearts as he plans to marry his girlfriend of several years, Natasha Dalal. While speculations have been rife that the star may marry his sweetheart this year, especially since the two made up rather warmly after a six-month hiccup in their romance, but we hear Varun wants to wait for another year. He has even told his family not to discuss his wedding with him this year, thanks to his professional commitments. Varun is filming Sui Dhaaga with Anushka Sharma, Kalank with Alia Bhatt and Remo D’souza’s untitled film with Katrina Kaif this year.
Tailpiece THE beautiful but luck-less singer girlfriend of this successful actor can’t wait for her career to take off. Even though he has roped her in to sing in one or two of his upcoming film projects, she doesn’t seem satisfied. We hear she now wants him to fund a music video, casting her, to promote her songs. Ah well, why not? He does love to help his friends we hear.
